Skooled is a weekly after-school mentoring program at Central High School led by local college students.

Get SKOOLED! The mission of Skooled is to address the disparities in education by bridging the gap between high school students & local college students through mentoring, tutoring, development and advocacy.

Founded in 2010 and incorporated May 7th, 2015, Skooled, Inc. was started by college students from Seton Hall University. This mentoring program is the immediate result of a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Association panel discussion/forum about the disparities in education proposed by Dr. King Scholar Monica Hall. Skooled was started to address those issues.

One of the panelists at that event was, Honorable Mayor Ras Baraka, who was the principal of Central High School at the time. At the end of the program, after discussing the issues, he invited the college students in the audience to come to his school and work with his students. Founder Monica Hall was a part of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Association (MLKSA) and the advisor Rev. Dr. Forest Pritchett told Principal Baraka that MLKSA would supply the people and Monica was to make it happen. Since then, volunteers from the audience and students who have been interested have met weekly on Fridays to mentor and tutor students from Central High School with the sole purpose of helping them apply and get to college.

We continue to work with Central High School in Newark, NJ every Friday.
